For all 2018 Matriculants.
We would like to invite you to take your MA either in absentia, or in person, on Saturday 5 April 2025!
If you would like to take your MA in person on 5th April, please complete the registration form online. Some important information is below:
- Those eligible to receive their MB may do so at the same ceremony and will be emailed after booking.
- Graduands who have changed their surname since the time of their BA graduation should ensure that they have indicated clearly on the form the full name in which they wish to take their MA.
- Guests may attend the ceremony in the Senate House. A maximum of two guest tickets will be available for each Graduand as standard and guests do not need to be registered anywhere. The University will also livestream the ceremony and all Graduands will receive the link to forward on to friends and family.
- Those electing to proceed in person on 5th April should aim to arrive in College dressed ready for the Congregation. A full dress inspection with the Praelector will take place in the Chapel. The precise timings for the day will be sent to you as soon as they are confirmed, but please plan for this arrival and inspection time being as early as 8am.
- Full details of the dress code and academic dress hire are here. If you are in any doubt about the dress code please consult the Master’s Assistant, Sharon Knight, mastersassistant@christs.cam.ac.uk several days in advance.
- The University only finalise the timetable shortly before the Congregation, so a precise schedule for the day will be sent to you approximately one week prior.

Lunch and dinner:
A buffet lunch will be served in Hall at 12.30pm (exact timings will be advised). Graduands may book for the discounted rate of £20 each and you may bring two guests to lunch at a cost of £25.50 each. These must be booked in advance.
A four-course dinner will be served in Formal Hall on the Saturday evening, at a cost of £57.50 per person. Drinks will be served in the OCR and Fellows’ Parlour from 7.00pm for dinner at 7.30pm, and the dress code for the dinner is black tie or lounge suit. Due to space limitations it is unfortunately not possible for guests to attend the dinner.
Tickets:
Tickets for the ceremony and lunch will be available for collection from the Porters’ Lodge from 4pm on Friday 4 April.
Accommodation:
There are a limited number of B&B rooms available in College for the night of 5th April; please indicate on the form if you would like to book one of these at a cost of £65 for a single room and £98.50 for a double or twin. You can find other accommodation options in Cambridge here or the accommodation at West Court is available all year round.
There is a strict booking deadline in order that the necessary formalities can be completed both in the College and at the University Registry. Booking will close at noon on Friday, 7 March 2025.
If you elect to take the degree in absentia you need do nothing more once you have completed the registration form (noting any changes of surname). Your certificate will be sent to you in due course (please ensure we have the correct address details for you; you can update them when you are logged in to our alumni community on the website).
Parking
On weekends, parking is available in the Hobson Street car park on a first come, first served basis and parking is not guaranteed even if you are staying in college accommodation overnight. You can find more information about parking and alternatives here.
