The College is delighted to announce the election of Professor Simon Tavaré FRS FMedSci to an Honorary Fellowship, following a meeting of the Governing Body held on Tuesday 5 May 2020.
Professor Tavaré was a Fellow of the College from January 2004 until he left Cambridge in the autumn of 2019 to join the Department of Systems Biology at the University of Columbia.
From February 2013 to February 2018 Simon was Director of the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute (CRUK CI); and was a Senior Group Leader there since 2006 and Professor of Cancer Research (Bioinformatics) in the Department of Oncology in Cambridge since 2003. He retired from the University of Cambridge and became a director of research in October 2019 before going to the University of Columbia.
