It was a tour of Christ’s that made me decide to apply to Cambridge. I didn’t think that it was an environment that I’d enjoy. But the tour and lovely student tour guide changed my perspective.
For prospective students who can get to Cambridge, we're delighted to offer opportunities to see the College.
You will be welcome, whether you walk around the College grounds using our self-guided tour leaflet, or book onto an open day or other event. We also include an online look at the grounds and facilities in our Online College Open Days to give those who can't get to Cambridge chance to see our grounds, facilities and accommodation too.
If you're planning to visit Christ's, please read the information below carefully to check the details work and avoid disappointment.
Open Days for prospective students
We have four open days a year, all of which include in-person College tours
October (a year before you apply) - College Open Day
February (7 months before) - College Open Day
July (summer before) - University Open Day (with College tours)
September (immediately before!) University and College Open Day
The Open Day tours are for students applying the following Sept/Oct and are led by current students. They last 20-25 mins and include accommodation rooms. Accompanying parents and guardians are also welcome.
Offer holder visit day
We invite all of our offer holders for a visit day, which normally takes place in February.
Self-guided visit to the grounds
Check opening dates & times
If you are visiting on a day when there's no Open Day or event, we invite you to walk through the grounds on a self-guided visit during our opening times, and we have a pdf for you to download with a map and details as you explore. This invitation is open to prospective students and offer holders and you can visit on your own or with up to two family members, friends or a teacher. Please read the self-guided visit page for details (please don't just turn up without looking at the information as it's best to check what's open when, plus there's an optional tour download).
Please be aware that self-guided entry is not available 24/7 - there are times and a small number of dates when the College will be closed (see the self-guided visit page for details) - for example it is normally closed between Christmas and the New Year.
Other events
The College also organises a number of other events including our Medicine Taster Day, our Natural Sciences Taster Day, our Women in Maths events, and our English Taster Series visit day. These have eligibility criteria - do see the events page for details of further events coming up.
If you can't visit in person, please don't be too disappointed. Every year many of our applicants apply from all over the world without ever having set foot in Cambridge. We try hard to make our website as helpful as possible so do use the resources below for visiting online
Online Open Day look at the grounds and facilities
As part of the College Open Days in October, February and September we have an online session showing the grounds and facilitities including accommodation rooms at Christ's College. This is a virtual visit for those who cannot attend the optional in-person days, and people who've attended so far have found it useful (especially if you live a long way away and cannot visit in person).
University Virtual Tour
Look up Christ's College on the Cambridge University Virtual Tour. This tour includes 360 degree photography, articles and films from Colleges and departments.
For Christ's you can see 360 degree photography of First Court, Second Court, Third Court and the Fellows' Garden as well as example accommodation rooms in Second Court, Third Court and New Court.
Website resources
Useful webpages include the College map and there are picture pages for First Court, Second Court, Third Court, New Court and the Fellows' Garden, as well as a section on Christ's facilities including pages on the Hall, Canteen, Working Library, Old Library, Law Library, Porters' Lodge, Chapel, Theatre, Common Rooms, Café and Bar, Swimming Pool, Gym, Squash Court, Sports Fields, Boathouse, Function Room, OCR, and Plumb Auditorium. There are pages on accommodation and the laundry rooms, a page on the cats, and we also have a "made-from-home" film where our students talk about the College:
Our address is Christ's College, St Andrew's Street, Cambridge CB2 3BU
If you use What3words you can find the entrance at ///drove.limbs.spout
See how to get to Christ's for further detail.
If you're hoping to stay overnight in Cambridge, you may find the practical info on our accommodation page helpful, and we also have some pointers for finding food.
