Christ's Fellow Professor Sir David Klenerman is one of four University of Cambridge researchers to have been recognised in the 2022 Breakthrough Prize Foundation in recognition of their outstanding achievments.
David and Professor Sir Shanka Balasubramanian hae been awarded the 2022 Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences, the world's largest science prize, for the development of next-generation DNA sequencing. They share the award with Pascal Mayer, from the French company Alphanosos.
They previously won the 2020 Millennium Technology Prize, announced in May 2021, for their invention of the Solexa-Illumina Next Generation DNA sequencing technology.
