I took the International Baccalaureate at an international school in Germany, where my college counsellor first told me about the four-year Classics course at Cambridge. Until then, I had assumed that not having Latin or Greek qualifications would stop me from studying my dream subject, so I couldn’t wait to apply.
I chose Christ’s for its academic record, central location, and beautiful setting—and it has exceeded every expectation. I have brilliant supervisors, live in a stunning college, and am just a short walk from the best pubs in town. What I have experienced over the last four years has shown me that there is no other place where I would have been happier to study. Our community of Classicists is unparalleled by any other college. Cambridge can be stressful and intense at times – especially as a four-year Classicist learning two ancient languages from scratch. But our College subject society is dedicated to making everything not just manageable but genuinely fun, with regular drinks nights, termly quizzes, and formals as frequent opportunities to unwind. It is a welcoming and supportive group that has been the heart of my time here, and one of the reasons I couldn’t imagine having studied anywhere else.
