This page is part of the Christ's applicants from Scotland section.
Students in the Scottish system applying to Cambridge need to take three Advanced Highers in S6 (these are the qualifications that we require for admission to our undergraduate courses). If you are taking the Scottish Baccalaureate, you will need to take three Advanced Highers as part of it.
On your UCAS application, you will also be asked about the exams you have already completed, including your National 5's and Highers that you have already taken at the point of application. You will need to enter the result you achieved for each subject, and we will take these into account when we are considering you. Note that for each subject we look at the band as well as the grade you achieve.
There are no requirements for how you have done in National 5's and Highers, however, and it is not a problem if you did not take National 5's. The guide for whether you make an application is whether you feel that you can achieve the typical offer for the course you are interested in at the end of S6. If you/your teachers think this is possible and there is a Cambridge course you think you would thrive on, then we would encourage you to apply!
For me, what makes Cambridge really special is the collegiate system: because of their inherent small size, it is so easy to feel at home quickly, and there is a real sense of community (including personal relationships with academic and pastoral staff that really get to know you while you’re here). I think it’s a more personal experience and learning environment than you would find in other universities. Another huge advantage is that, in Christ’s, you have guaranteed accommodation for the entire duration of your degree. Since the accommodation is owned by the college, it has controlled costs and availability.
