This page is part of the offer-holders section for students who have been offered an undergraduate place at Christ's College.

 Updates for 2024 entry
  • Note that you don't need to worry about accommodation as this is guaranteed - you'll see on the dates and deadlines page that we'll be sending you an accommodation form by email (most likely on 19-20 August), which you will need to complete by 1 Sept. The 2024 freshers information will then be available online from 9 September.
  • Students who need a visa are reminded to read the offer holders visa page in full. Once you have met the conditions of your offer, please wait patiently for your CAS - please do not email asking about when you will receive it (see the page for more detail and a film).
  • Some of you may be interested in attending regional pre-Cambridge events, which take place in different parts of the UK and internationally. There will be info about the events here from mid August (and earlier in some cases).

Freshers from BritainTwo students sat at table, both holding mugs

Some UK students may be required to arrive on 29 Sept for the College's Bridging course, however the date of arrival for most undergraduates from Britain will be Saturday 5 October 2024.  All new students must normally arrive by 1pm that day. If this will be difficult for you because of travel distance it is normally possible to arrive on Thursday 3 or Friday 4 October, as long as you seek permission from the Tutorial Office in advance (tutorial@christs.cam.ac.uk).

Freshers from outside Britain

If you are from outside Britain you can arrive from Saturday 28 September 2024 at the earliest* and must be in College by 1pm on the 5 October 2024. You will be asked about your arrival date when the College is organising your accommodation.

*Please note that if you arrive before the 5 October, you may not be able to go straight into the room you will have for the term. In some cases we may need to accommodate you in a temporary room initially.

Practical information about joining Christ's

All the practical information from our tutorial team about joining Christ's will be available online from early September, and some more individual information will be sent by email at around the same time. There will be a Welcome Hub on Saturday 5 October from 9am until 1pm to help students who are arriving.

The online freshers information will include a map and directions to the College, together with instructions about what to do when you get here. You should be aware that the traffic in and around Cambridge will be extremely heavy and much patience is required. Several hundred other students also will be trying to get into their colleges through streets which were laid out in medieval times!

Freshers Fair
  Christ's Freshers' Fair

For non-UK students, there will be some social events organised by Christ's International Student Reps and Cambridge Students' Union, for non-UK students who arrive early. But all of these events are entirely optional, and you don’t need to arrive early to attend them unless you want to. You won’t be disadvantaged in any way if you miss them.

Lectures start on Thursday 10 October 2024. University term dates for the next few years are here.

If you have questions about accommodation, please see the offer holders' accommodation page and if you need a visa and want to check on details for this please see the visa page.
